The TRYP Ambassador hotel is situated in Madrid�s historical city center, the �Austria�s� Madrid. The hotel is only a few minutes walk away from the Royal Palace, the Royal Opera House, the Almudena Cathedral and the Plaza de Oriente. It occupies an old palace which belonged to the Dukes of Ega, and the old Convent of the Santo Domingo monks and although the buildings� original structure has been maintained, the hotel offers all the necessary modern facilities. The 182 rooms, including 3 suites and 21 rooms with a spacious sitting area, have recently been partially renovated, and all have fully equipped bathrooms with hairdryers and enlargement mirrors. Five spacious function rooms, four of which have natural lighting, with a maximum capacity for 300 people, make the perfect venue for meetings, luncheons, conventions, weddings and other events. The location is ideal for transportation, two underground stations, taxi stop, bus stops, bus stations and bus city tours, as well as Atocha and Chamartin train stations (4 Km) and Barajas International airport (15 km). The Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Callao square, Gran Vía and Preciados str, which are only a few minutes walk from the hotel cater for those who enjoy shopping, in a wide pedestrian area with small local shops for souvenirs, book shops, leather and fashion and big department stores like El Corte Inglés. Madrid gastronomy can be found in the neighborhood with typical tapas taverns, fancy restaurants, some of them with terraces for the Madrid good weather, Café de Oriente, Botín, Taberna del Alabardero, Asador de Aranda etc.. as well as a wide variety of international cuisine restaurants. All the latest plays, musicals, operas and films can be found on Gran Via and the hotel surroundings. And by night, fashionable nightclubs, pubs and bars open till early hours of the morning as well as the high quality flamenco shows. The Prado Museum, the Thyssen Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía are also only a few underground stops away. A public parking, gym and hairdresser with special prices for hotel clients can be found right beside the hotel. Other sporting activities, car rentals and day trips to landmarks such as Toledo, El Escorial, Valle de los Caídos and Segovia can all be organised from the hotel reception. Children are very welcome and Madrid offers many activities for their entertainment at the Casa de Campo and Retiro Park. The recently inaugurated Warner Bros theme park, Madrid�s Zoo, Faunia, Carlos Sainz indoor Karting, the amusement park and indoor ski slopes at Xanadu are just some of the activities the city has to offer youngsters.
